After this weekend, the band officially transitions to inside band rehearsals. Monday through Thursday, the band rehearses concert band for our Christmas concert in early December. We also have a Christmas parade to prepare for.
On Friday, we take the marching band outside to rehearse the halftime show for our Playoff games. This team is VERY good and we expect to play until the championships hosted in Auburn this year on December 6th. Mark that day on your calendar as it will be a huge day for all Trojans.
This is a great time for students to get their afternoons and weekends to focus on grade and other things. However, what we do inside we work as hard if not harder than any other time of year. This is the time of year when the students really improve their ability as players.
No matter how good we march, twirl, spin, and even conduct; nothing matters if we aren’t good players. I can understand that students enjoy marching band the most of all the things they do, but we must be a good playing band. And all of that is really taught during the concert band seasons.
State Championships is finally here, what we have all been working toward since the first day of band camp. Let’s make the most of this week’s rehearsals and finish strong!
