Wow, we aren’t in Kansas anymore

I received our email today with the bands and classifications for Saturday. Good gracious, I don’t think we have ever been to a contest stacked with so many powerhouse bands. We aren’t local anymore by any means.

This contest is about one thing……………Great feedback from a great panel and an opportunity to perform and compete against t he best bands in our REGION. Literally, our placements could be just about anywhere.

This just hammers home my statement from before……..this competition road ends in Pelham,Al October 30 at the Alabama State Championships. It is there that we must peak and perform our best. We will get great feedback from a great panel of music educators that will literally help us make lesson plans for the next month.

Once again, I want to educate everyone as to what we do and why we do it. If you want to improve yourself, the surround yourself with people who are better at what you do than you are. Learn from them as well as see where you stack up among some of the best. I am excited to be in a competition with this caliber of band programs again. It’s been a very very very long time. Parents, get there early and watch as many as possible.

Here is a list of the bands with their classifications. Notice the bands are not in order of classification, but rather a blind draw format. This tells you they don’t judge on band size but rather quality of the bands. 300 or 50, you are expected to perform equally as well as the others. Classifications are done by school size.
