Good afternoon MSMS Band,
Here’s your info for the week:
- 7th and 8th grade band members need to have their concert attire by Tuesday, September 6. Please refer to last weeks post to see info about concert attire. Here’s the link to last weeks post: https://msband.org/info-for-the-week-8-8-through-8-12/
- Here is the LATEST MSMS Home Football Schedule:
-Tuesday, August 30
-Tuesday, September 6
-Thursday, September 15
-Tuesday, September 20
More specific info will be given out concerning times, where to meet, what the kids need to bring, etc. as we get closer to the first game on August 30.
All 7th and 8th Grade Instrument players will need a lyre and flipfolder (tubas will just need a flipfolder). Many 8th grade band members may have their lyre and flipfolder from last year. Alabama Music in Florence will have lyres and flipfolders for purchase. These items are used to hold the kids music while they play their instruments in the stands during the football games.
3. The Homecoming Parade is Friday, September 2. This will be for the 8th grade band members and the MSMS Colorguard. The parade will begin at 3:00 p.m. The instrument players will be riding on the trailer of an 18 wheeler. They will be in chairs on the trailer. The MSMS Colorguard will be walking behind the trailer in the parade.
4. Our performance time for 7th and 8th Grade AMEA Performance has been announced. The band will play at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19 in the theater at the BJCC in Birmingham.
5. Just a reminder about MSMS Band Fees.
6th Grade Band Fee is $65
7th and 8th Grade Band Fee is $85
Instrument Rental Fee (school owned instruments) is $50
These can be paid online through My School Bucks or your child can bring cash/check to me. I will receipt it once I receive it. Please make checks payable to MSMS Band.
It was a GREAT week in band last week in class. We are off to a wonderful start.
